Grape Apple Salad with Yogurt Dressing

Please share

Grape apple salad with yogurt dressing is fresh, fruity and fun.  It is a little bit like a Walldorf salad but is dressed with yogurt, honey and cinnamon. It is one of our favorite easy fruit salads.

If you are looking for a great way to enjoy fresh fruit, this apple salad with yogurt dressing is it. It is cool and fresh. It is great for breakfast, as a snack, or as a fresh cold side dish for dinner.

I love salads with fruit in them.  Offer me a nice green salad topped with fruit, nuts and a light dressing and I am all over it.  That is what I order almost every time I go out to eat.

Ingredients including apples, grapes, yogurt, honey, vanilla, lemon juice, and cinnamon ready to be made into an apple salad.

I can’t help it, I just love them!  This is even better.  Why waste the room on greens when you can just go for the good stuff?!

This is along the lines of a Waldorf salad, but lighter.  It is fruit in a light coating of yogurt, vanilla, honey, lemon and cinnamon.  It is soooo good and you can feel good about eating it!

Substitutions and Additions

We love this recipe as written, but there are so many ways you could change it up.

If you are a big waldorf salad fan, you could add chopped celery and nuts to the mix. That adds even more crunch and flavor.

Sometimes we add more fruit in.  Little Dude requested strawberries a couple of weeks ago and we love them in there.

When fresh pears are in season, sometimes we replace some of the apples with pears. The mix is delicious and it adds a slightly different flavor and texture to the mix.

We have also added bananas.  The yogurt dressing is good on pretty much any mix of fruit.

If you have vanilla yogurt instead of plain, that works too. You can omit the vanilla and reduce or omit the honey depending on how sweet you want the salad to be.

    2 Tablespoons lemon juice

You can use vanilla yogurt instead of plain. Just omit the vanilla extract and reduce the honey to 1 Tablespoon or omit.
This recipe works with both standard yogurt and Greek yogurt.

Does this need to be made right before serving or can it be made several hours in advance?

You can make it several hours in advance. Just cover and refrigerate it and you'll be good to go!
