2 T vegetable oil
2 T flour
1 T chili powder
8 oz tomato sauce
1 1/2 cup water
1 T cumin
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp salt
2 tsp white pepper
1 tsp cayenne pepper
Cholula to taste
(all measurements are subject to taste, start with a little and add until you get your desired flavor)
- Heat a saucepan and oil over medium-high heat. Stir in flour and chili powder. Reduce heat to medium and cook until lightly browned, stirring constantly.
- Add tomato sauce and water and stir well to combine.
- Add seasoning, tasting as your go.
- Simmer for a few minutes until slightly thickened
