Yogurt and Tahini Sauce

     Our second batch of pita required a second sauce!  If the original batch of homemade pita had homemade hummus for dipping, the sourdough pita deserved something too.  I wanted something that could be drizzled over some falafel, would be good with cucumbers and tomatoes and would be a cool and creamy finish to wrapping all of that in a pita.  So this yogurt tahini sauce was born!

     This sauce was the perfect compliment to the sandwich.  It had that cool yogurt feel with the warm notes of tahini.  Just wait until tomorrow, we are going to continue our little adventure.  We are taking all of the flavors we have been savoring this week but traveling a bit toward the Middle East.  The sourdough pita, this lovely sauce and some veggies are going to cradle some falafel waffles. I don't know about you, but I have been really enjoying our little culinary adventure!

Yogurt and Tahini Sauce


1 cup plain yogurt
1 T tahini
1-2 cloves garlic
2 T lemon juice
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 tsp pepper
2 T fresh dill

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour to let the flavors meld, then serve!
