Please share

If you like a good seafood chowder, this recipe is sure to become your favorite. It is creamy, and full of flavor. Plus it is absolutely loaded with fish and shrimp, making it a real treat to eat.

Bowl of fish and shrimp chowder with cod and potatoes in creamy base.

This chowder is like heaven in a bowl. It is creamy and delicious with big pieces of tender seafood.

You don’t have to hunt for the fish or shrimp, you know it’s there. The flavors work so well together and it is a must make soup for sure!

Ingredients including raw shrimp, cod, yukon gold potatoes, onions, bacon, cream, bay leaves, and thyme ready to be made into seafood chowder.

This seafood chowder recipe has been a favorite in our family for quite a few years now. We have tried several, but this is the one we keep coming back to.

It has the perfect balance of flavors. It is mild enough to let the seafood shine through, but not boring.

My brother K.C. introduced us to the recipe and we have been hooked ever since. We have requested him to make it for us several times.

So he shared the recipe so we could make it for ourselves and stop asking him to make it. But, that doesn’t necessarily stop us!

Seafood Chowder

You could really adapt this to use whatever seafood you like. We tend to stick to cod and shrimp.

The chunks of cod hold up pretty well. Of course, some will break apart.

However, you will still have plenty of big pieces of fish. You can try using any fish you have or like.

Of course the shrimp keeps its shape too. And there is something about the pink shrimp in the soup that make it extra good.

I think it’s because you can see it and recognize what it is from a distance. And who doesn’t like shrimp?

It’s hard to make imagine someone thinking there is too much shrimp in the soup, but of course you could use less if you want to.

The soup is great plain. Little Dude loves some oyster crackers in his chowder, you could also serve it with garlic bread or a slice of pone bread.

This soup is definitely special enough to make for a nice holiday or dinner guests.  It is also easy enough to pull off on a weeknight if you feel like treating yourself to a warm bowl of seafood love.

No matter the occasion, it is sure to be a new favorite!

I have a whole family of people who don't eat seafood. I don't get it! I'd eat seafood everyday if I could! 😁 Looks delicious Carlee!

It definitely helps build the excitement (and make sure there is something everyone likes) when a big meal is coming if the whole group is involved in planning it!
