Father's Day Favorites

Great ideas to make dad feel special on Father's Day.  Full of gift ideas, activities and recipes perfect for dad.

I am really excited to be joining Jan from Tip Garden, Val from Corn, Beans, Pigs and Kids and Nicole from Tales of a Kansas Farm Mom to bring you some fun holiday ideas.  Hopefully we will make this a monthly link-up centered on a different theme each month.  It may be a holiday that is during the month or maybe a food holiday or something seasonal.  Either way it is a great way to showcase some of your best work! Feel free link to new posts, old posts, any posts pertaining to the theme.  If you don't have a blog, that is ok too.  This will be like one stop shopping for inspiration!

Father's Day is just around the corner! We are just whipping through all of these special days this year, aren't we? I know the years always go fast but this one seems to be on turbo speed.  Next weekend MiMi and I are hosting my middle sister's baby shower.  You may remember my littlest sister and I hosted a bridal shower brunch for her last fall.  Well she must have really enjoyed it because she didn't waste any time working up an excuse for another shower!

Since she is having a little boy we are doing a baseball themed shower.  It should be fun!  Of course that has nothing to do with Father's Day other than the fact that the baby will have a father (heehee!) and since we have that going on I need all of the help I can get to make my husband and dad feel special.  So link up your finest!  We'd love to see gift ideas, fun activities and plenty of Father's Day Recipes.

Luckily enough both of them are pretty easy going and happy with whatever.  My husband wants to grill something, so that should be easy.  But I am sure little dude and I can do better than sit back and let him grill for us.  So help me out!

In years past we always hosted for Mother's Day and Father's Day. A couple of years ago we had the dads, grandpas and siblings over for french toast cooked over an open fire. It is one of my husband's favorites and something a bit unique.  We rounded out the day with more cooking over the fire.  That time it was scrumptious shrimp that could be done just as easily on the stove if fire isn't your thing!

My dad is always happy with his favorite cake combination, white on white.  So MiMi's White Texas Sheet Cake is an easy way to make him happy.  He also loves to grill and one of his specialties is venison backstrap marinated in a Korean inspired recipe.  We call it Bul Kogi Backstrap and it is so tender and full of flavor.  Everyone goes back for seconds when he makes it!

What are your favorite ways to celebrate dad on Father's Day? If you are a dad how would you like to be spoiled? And be sure to get some inspiration by looking at the other links below!

We plan to pin all of the links you leave on our Celebrate 365 group board, so be sure to leave your best stuff.  We also may use a photo (with credit of course!) and a link in another post or on Facebook.  If you drop a link, you are giving us permission to use your link and photo in these ways.

  1. Grilling is a must on Father's Day! I'm planning on making the Dads in our life extra special by making their favorite pies for dessert for Father's Day Dinner.

    1. It does seem like the grill has to come out on a proper Father's Day. I love the idea of making their favorite pies, the fathers in my family would love that too!
