That’s right, I turned one of our favorite sandwiches into a pizza. It is loaded with beef, flavorful gravy and lots of melted cheese.

Throw some pepperoncini on top or serve them on the side.  The extra sauce is fun for dipping too.  This pizza is fun and different!

Did you know it’s National Pizza Month? Neither did I.

Luckily I have some good friends who know this kind of stuff though. And once you know a thing like that you have to celebrate! I mean, it’s only right!

We love our pizza.  There are so many ways to make it, so you could have it almost every day and never get tired of it.

You can make breakfast pizza with a hashbrown crust, which we highly recommend.  Or there’s the standard pizza with red sauce, mozzarella and toppings.

We tend to do ham or Canadian bacon, mushrooms and peppers most frequently.  Though we also love BBQ style pizzas and white pizza.

The croque madame pizza, apple bacon pizza and even the zupa tuscano inspired pizza all went down easy. Heck there are even dessert pizzas!  You know I’m not saying no to one of those either.

So to say deciding what kind of pizza to make was hard is an understatement. There are too many good options to choose from!

Then it hit me. Italian beef pizza! Why not? It’s one of our favorite sandwiches.

In fact I’m a bit surprised I don’t have a recipe on here for them.

It’s probably because I never measure when I make them. They are always made a similar way, but probably never identical. I’ll try my best to get one up for you soon if you’d like.

My husband instantly fell in love with MiMi’s Italian beef the first time he had it. It is still one of the things he’ll request for family dinner.

Either that or taco bar!  So I thought it would be fun to turn it into a pizza.

I wasn’t quite sure how to mimic all the flavors at first. It was tempting to look and see what others have done as I’m sure I wasn’t the first to think of this.

However I didn’t want to be influenced by somebody else’s idea, so I stayed clear of the internet and went with my gut.

Thin sliced beef in a flavorful broth would be hard to keep on a pizza.  A thick gravy, bits of beef and a healthy layer of provolone seemed like it could work though.

Of course some sliced pepperoncini didn’t hurt either.

I put it in the oven and hope for the best.  It smelled amazing but wasn’t as beautiful a I had hoped when I took it out. I quickly snapped a few pictures and served it up, anxious to see what they boys thought.

My husband and Little Dude both made happy noises and couldn’t quit complimenting it as they ate. That’s a win in my book!

We love this with both my sourdough pizza crust and whole wheat pizza crust recipes. You can use your favorite pizza crust recipe.

  • 1 package Italian dressing mix
  • 8 oz sliced roast beef

8 oz sliced roast beef, ½ cup pepperoncini slices, 8 oz provolone
  • Bake for about 15 minutes.
  • If desired, thin the remaining gravy with a bit more beef stock and serve on the side. Serve with pepperoncini and enjoy!
