MiMi's Peanut Butter and Jelly Dip

This fun peanut butter and jelly dip is loaded with the flavors of childhood. It is light and creamy, not too sweet and super fun. Make it for your next get together to see for yourself!

Digging in to a fun dip brings out the child in you. Load that dip with peanut butter and jelly and use animal crackers, pretzels and graham crackers as dippers and that effect is magnified! This dip is perfect for parties. It is a fun slightly sweet appetizer or a perfect munchable light dessert. Plus you can make it ahead so it is perfect all the way around!

MiMi first made this dip for a party we were hosting to watch the big game back in 2015.  We had so many snacky foods, we thought the dessert should be kind of light and simple.

MiMi set out to make up a sweet cheese ball.  She thought it would be fun to make one that combined the age old classics of peanut butter and jelly.

As these things go, everything changed as she went.  So, she made a dip instead!  A yummy, sweet dip that brings back your childhood (only better).

As we have discussed before, Little Dude loves to dip.  He also loves peanut butter.

He has it on toast nearly every day.  So, we knew this would be a hit with him.

What we didn't know is how much the adults would love it.  Even the big guys were getting into it between bites of buffalo chicken dip.

MiMi made two kinds.  One with grape jelly and the other with strawberry. (Mmmmm, strawberry jelly!!)

The pictures I took that first night were not great, things were busy when everyone arrived.  By the time I got back to do it, they were decimated!

Of course that is a good sign, really.  When food disappears quickly like that, you know you have a winner on your hands.

We have made several sweet dips since then and they are always a hit. The monster cookie dough dip has made an appearance at several parties and the cookies and cream cheese ball is another winner.

But I thought it was high time we went back to this recipe and spiffed it up a bit.  It is so simple and really delicious, so it deserved to be reintroduced to you all.

The base of the dip ends up pretty light and fluffy if you give it a good beating with a mixer.  Add a little honey at first and give it a taste, then add more if necessary.

I chose to keep mine on the more lightly sweet end of the spectrum, but a little more honey or jelly would easily swing it to the sweeter side if that is what you are after.

To garnish the bowl, I just warmed up a little more jelly so it would spread easily and put it on top of the mix. A few chopped peanuts helped to give people an idea of what they would find underneath.

You can use whatever dippers you would like with your dip.  We have used a variety of items over the years.

Animal crackers and pretzel twists hold up well to dipping.  Vanilla wafers, graham crackers, even regular crackers are all good options as well.

I think dessert dips are a perfect way to have a little something sweet at a party.  They are particularly great for snacky parties like New Year's or  game day get togethers.

Have you ever made a dessert dip? What are your favorite kinds?
