Apple Bundt Cake with Cider Caramel Sauce #appleweek

This delicious bundt cake is brimming with apple flavor. It is good on its own, but the apple cider caramel sauce takes it to the next level!

It's Friday!!  I hope you have been enjoying the apple week festivities as much as I have.  I really want to take a bite out of each and every one of these apple treats!  I know ate more than my fair share of each of the apple recipes I shared though, so maybe I should run around the block once or twice first!

Apple Cider Caramel Sauce #appleweek

This delicious caramel sauce is kissed with apple cider.  You are not going to believe the flavor it gives.  Perfect for drizzling over cake, ice cream, waffles, apples or eaten off a spoon!

My new favorite caramel sauce has arrived!!  This is so good.  Not to toot my own horn or anything (toot, toot!) but I think it might just be the best caramel sauce I've ever had.  It is as rich and creamy as you would want a caramel sauce to be, but there is a bit of a tart apple apple flavor in there that wakes up your tastebuds and will make them do a happy dance to boot!

Slow Cooker Apple Cider Pulled Pork #appleweek

This apple cider pulled pork is a delicious twist on a family favorite. The house will smell so good the whole time it cooks too!

There is just something about fall that screams pork to me.  I am not 100% sure why, because we eat plenty of pulled pork during the summer too.  Maybe it is all of the braising options and homey flavors that make it seem like fall and pork just go together.  Another thing that goes with work? Apples, of course!  It is apple week after all, so that answer shouldn't have been much of a shocker!

The time has finally come.  It's apple week!  Some of my favorite bloggers and I have been furiously working to get a great group of apple themed posts together for you guys.  Today we are sharing appetizers and drinks.  I can't wait to click over and see what everyone made because just reading the names has made me hungry... and thirsty!  An Apple Brie Rollup with an Apple Cider Margarita?  Don't mind if I do.  Roasted Apple and Acorn Squash Soup and an Apple Pie Smoothie?  Sure, I'm in!!  So many great recipes all in one spot!

Light and Fresh Apple Slaw

Isn't this time of year so interesting to cook for?  The fact that school is back in session, the apples are ripening and football is on makes you want to cook lovely warm fall food.  The problem is, it is still hot outside!  This slaw helps bridge the gap.  It uses some of those favorite fall flavors of honey, apples and mustard and puts them in a fresh salad that is still perfect for a hot day.

Fall and Winter Fruit Salad

During spring and summer, throwing together a fruit salad is so easy.  Dump in some delicious fresh berries, mix, done!  I just love berries, so it I only have eyes for them when they are ripe and delicious.  But we are heading into the season where a couple of things happen.  1. Berries get super expensive. 2. They taste like crap anyway. So we have to scramble and do something different.

The Creamiest Macaroni and Cheese with Ham

The creamiest stovetop macaroni and cheese recipe I've ever tried! It is good on it's own or stir in some ham for a simple family pleasing dinner.

This macaroni and cheese is comfort food at it's finest.  It is quick to put together and makes the creamiest macaroni and cheese you've ever had.  In the time it takes to boil the noodles, you can throw together the sauce and chop the ham.  Then all you have to do is toss it together and dinner is served! If your family is anything like mine, creamy and cheesy are crowd pleasing words and this recipe is sure to get two thumbs up!

Grandpa Joe's Pumpkin Apple Muffins

These pumpkin apple muffins come from my husband's grandpa. They are like a perfect bite of fall.  Breakfast is served and it's delicious!

When I sent out a a call for family favorite recipes, Matt's Grandma was nice enough to send me this pumpkin apple muffin recipe that she said Grandpa Joe baked frequently. I never had the pleasure of meeting Grandpa Joe, but I still have a very warm feeling about him.  Everyone remembers him so warmly, it makes me really wish I had the chance to know him myself. He was the original Scharnhorst carpenter.  He spent years putting his touch on many buildings around town.  He also built three houses for his family.  Each time they learned a little about what they wanted in the next house until they finally built the house they really made home.  His knowledge, skills and tools are still very much alive in the hands of Dave and Matt.  Ruth said that when Joe retired he enjoyed spending more time in the kitchen.  This was one of the recipes he held onto.

Sweet or Savory Apple Cider Waffles

Confession time: I was only going to make these as a somewhat savory waffle recipe.  I wanted it as a base for some fun Apple Cider Braised Pork that is coming to the blog soon.  So I made them and they were delicious.  The problem was I had a jar of what was left of some Apple Cider Caramel Sauce in the fridge and it was nagging at me.  Things as delicious as that can't just sit around forever and I knew that a sweet version of these waffles spiced with a little cinnamon and nutmeg would be the perfect excuse er, vehicle upon which to eat the caramel. You guys..... I cannot even explain how good it was together.  Of course a little freshly whipped cream on top never hurt anything, nor did the sprinkle of cinnamon.  Oh man, now I need to make more.  I am getting hungry all over again just thinking about it!

Blueberry Oatmeal Pancakes

These pancakes are heartier and healthier than traditional flapjacks. You are going to love the oatmeal and berries in these babies. Breakfast is served!

Man oh man, it has been a little while since I had a chance to post with the folks of Foodie Extravaganza.  A combination of themes that I didn't have any super great recipes for and being way too busy for my own good got in the way.  But when I saw this month's theme was pancakes I knew I had to jump in!  We love pancakes! There are so many delicious things you can do with them too.  I can't wait to see what everyone made.

Great-Great-Grandma Langhorst's Dutch Apple Cake

This is a recipe from my Great-Grandma Rees's mom.  It is meant to be a breakfast cake, like a coffee cake.  My grandparents used to make a bunch of these up in the fall when they had a lot of apples and freeze them for the rest of the year!

Buffalo Chicken Taquitos with Cilantro Cream

These creamy, cheesy buffalo chicken taquitos have just enough kick.  They are wrapped in a crunch shell that crisps up in the oven, no frying required. The cilantro cream sauce takes them to the next level!

Football season is here!  It never quite seems real the first few weeks.  Am I the only one that feels this way?  I mean it is a hundred bagillion degrees outside still.  We had to rush home from a family BBQ covered in sweat to draft our fantasy team.  To me football, chili and fall go together so these first few weeks when it is still summer make it hard to get my head in the game.

Then there are the couple glorious weeks where it is nice out.  Thank goodness we have a T.V. in the garage so we can at least kind of keep up on the big games while still enjoying the weather.  By the time November rolls around, this little mama is ready to reserve Sundays for a big pot of chili, my favorite Steelers gear and plenty of football!

Peanut Butter Apple Pancake Pizzas

A perfect breakfast or fun snack, these peanut butter apple pancake pizzas will leave you with a smile on your face every time!

I don't know about you, but around here it seems that life just keeps getting busier by the minute.  Of course one of the most hectic times of day is the morning.  Getting everyone up and dressed and out the door on time is a challenge under even the best of circumstances.  Making sure we've had a nutritious breakfast before we go just adds to the stress.  But as with all things busy, the best way to tackle the problem is with a game plan!
