Maple Crunch Sweet Potato Casserole for a Crowd

This is the perfect holiday side dish. Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter are all begging for this delicious twist on a classic side dish.

I know, I know, Thanksgiving is over and you could probably use a break from sweet potatoes.  But I just need to share this with you guys anyway.  Of course it is perfect for Thanksgiving, but it would also be great alongside your Christmas ham.  It  is never too early to start planning, and I've got a bunch of Christmas cookies headed your way, so I need to share this now!

Cranberry Apple Sauce

This delicious and vibrant sauce is part applesauce and part cranberry sauce. It is colorful and perfect along pork or chicken. It will be great on your Thanksgiving table as well!

First thing's first, how was your Thanksgiving?  Ours was lovely.  There was too much food, as always but it just wouldn't be Thanksgiving if that weren't the case.

In fact I think we should all just make a resolution now that it's a yoga pants weekend and be comfy, cozy and happy with that.  After all, there are leftovers to eat, Christmas decorations to get out and football to watch!

Great-Grandma's Egg noodles

These homemade egg noodles are pure comfort food.  My great-grandma made them, then my maw-maw, my mom and now little dude! They are a must have around thanksgiving, but we also make chicken and noodles at least a time or two throughout the year!

Noodles were a staple at my mom's Thanksgiving dinners growing up.  Turkey, stuffing and Thanksgiving noodles were the must haves.  Paw-Paw grew up eating these noodles.  When the hoosier moved to Illinois, the noodles had to come too.

Sweet Heat Cranberry Spread

This spread is full of fresh herb flavor with a bit of spice and some sweet cranberries. The balance is delicious and it is the perfect spread for crackers.

It's holiday party season!  And do you know what that means?  Snacks!  Whether it is a starter while the turkey is roasting on Thanksgiving or something to nosh on during the Christmas parties ahead, this cranberry spread will be a nice change to the standard fare.  It has a really fresh flavor from the herbs and lime juice and just enough spice from the jalapeno to make it interesting.  I don't think it would be too hot to upset anyone's pallet.

Cranberry Oatmeal Sourdough Muffins

Orange, cranberries come together with just a hint of spice in these oatmeal sourdough muffins. They are a perfect grab and go breakfast or fun healthier brunch treat.

Muffins are a great grab and go breakfast for busy mornings. They are also a quick and easy way to serve guests.  So I made a bunch for my sister's bridal shower brunch.  We love to have some in the freezer anyway, then we are about 20 seconds away from a breakfast Jax loves.  The best part is these muffins are pretty darn healthy, so you don't have to feel bad about it.

Cranberry Snack Cake

A perfectly simple and delicious sweet treat for the holidays. Use fresh or frozen cranberries and watch them smile!

A simple cake studded with fresh cranberries is a perfect way to celebrate cranberry season. It's quick to make and perfectly straddles the mix of sweet and tart. Not to mention how pretty those fresh berries are!

Spiced Peach Preserves

Sweet but spiked with a bit of warm spice, these peach preserved will take your toast and biscuits to the next level!

I think I might be a bit jam, preserve and spread obsessed lately!  This is actually my third peach jam version on the blog so far and that doesn't include the vanilla peach sauce!  Who would have thought?  I love making peach jam, it is so easy.  All it takes is a little bit of acid and the natural pectin already in the peaches.  You just need to give it enough time to do it's magic.  You can go from fresh or frozen peaches to jam in less than a half hour.

Toasted Maple Cinnamon Granola

Homemade granola is so much cheaper than store bought and tastier too! Besides it is so easy and customizable. This version is our absolute favorite!

Little Dude loves yogurt.  He loves smoothies, cups of yogurt and especially fruit and yogurt parfaits.  He thinks it is fun to dump some granola on top and crunch on the little bits of sweet goodness.  But granola can be expensive, and who knows what they put in it?

My Middle Sister's Bridal Shower

My middle sister is getting married!  Now if that doesn't make me feel a bit old.  So the baby sister and I thought it would be fun to throw her a shower.   Kristie (the middle one) is a country girl at heart.  She is also not interested in planning a big wedding.  So we thought a small and casual country chic type shower would be the perfect way to go.

French Maple Buttercream

This Maple Buttercream is the best ever! It's not too sweet and has just enough maple. It is cream, smooth and buttery in the best kind of way. You have to try it!

Ummm, you guys.  I have a new favorite frosting.  I mean really, this frosting is the smoothest, creamiest, yummiest, rich maply goodiest frosting I've ever had.  I'll be sharing a great recipe to share it on a bit later, and I can't wait.  I would tell you that you should go ahead and make a batch for practice, but this seems like it needs something extra special to go with.  So go ahead and give it a try if you want, but prepare to be hooked.

Quick and Easy Blackberry Spread

This blackberry spread is quick and easy. It is great over toast, biscuits, pancakes or ice cream!

As much as I love the flavors of fall, sometimes I just long for a fresh pop of berries.  That is why I always freeze the lion's share of our homegrown blackberries to enjoy during the colder months.  There is nothing better than a fresh berry sauce, spread or jam to put a smile on your face.

Chili Cook-Off - For All of the Pride and Your Place on the Plaque

By now I am sure you know how much we enjoy getting our friends and family together.  What we enjoy even more is a good competition.  We happen to hang with a competitive bunch, so it makes for lots of fun witty banter (aka smack talk!) Ever since The Big Poultry Grill-Off of 2016 we just knew we had to have a chili cook-off.  We sent out the evite all the way back on Labor Day so we would be on everyone's calendar and get them thinking.  Good thing we did, because this fall filled up quick and we would have had a hard time getting it in if we didn't commit early! Within a couple of days, people were thinking chili.  Everyone was tossing around ideas and touting their chilies as the best.

Great Aunt Ellen's Turtle Bars

These turtle bars may not look like much, but they are AH-MAZING!!  Think about this, melty chocolate chips and rich caramel wrapped up in chocolaty brownie-like goodness.  Yup! It's as good as it sounds.
