Strawberries and Cream Popcorn

This quick and easy popcorn recipe is a fun munchy for parties. Strawberries and cream popcorn is especially fun in spring, but is great year round.

Strawberries and cream popcorn was shared for the first time way back in the early days of Cooking With Carlee.  When we were deciding what kind of popcorn to make for his hop on popcorn course of his Dr. Seuss birthday party, once I get this in my head I just knew I had to make it again.

Peach Rhubarb Pie

Peach rhubarb pie combines the tart taste of spring with summer's sweet fruit. Peach and rhubarb come together under a golden streusel in this perfect fruity pie.

The story of this pie actually begins a year ago.  We were getting ready for our big friends and family pie-off.  It wasn't our first pie tasting, we had actually had a mini pecan pie off a couple of years prior, but it was definitely going to be our biggest.  I was having the hardest time deciding what to make. (Spoiler alert: I always have the hardest time deciding what to make!)

Vintage Gold Cake

A delicious cake that is made not with butter, but egg yolks! It is a light and simple to make cake and a great way to use yolks left from meringues or angel food cakes.

This post is sponsored in conjunction with #BrunchWeek. I received product samples from sponsor companies to aid in the creation of the #Brunchweek recipes. All opinions are mine alone.

Have you ever needed to use a ton egg whites for a nice angel food cake or pavlova recipe and wondered what the heck you were going to do with all of those yolks? I mean there is only so much lemon curd one person can make and eat. It is delicious, but...

Granola is such a tasty treat.  The thing is it is pretty expensive to buy at the store.  It is so easy to make at home though, so we don't need to worry ourselves over that one little bit!  Plus then you know exactly what is in it and you can customize it to your tastes.  This toasted coconut granola was a huge hit at our house.  It makes a nice big batch, but it has a way of disappearing quickly!

Orange Creamsicle Jello Salad

Creamy orange jello dotted with mandarin slices and topped with a fluffy vanilla topping makes for a perfectly refreshing and delicious orange creamsicle jello salad!

I have been having a lot of fun cooking what I would consider vintage recipes lately.  So I tried to get some ideas for fun new things to try on Facebook, when the conversation turned to what qualifies as vintage? What would you consider a vintage recipe?  Jello salads scream vintage to me.  So I thought I would make a fun orange creamsicle inspired jello salad in celebration of my (not so) newfound love of old recipes.

A tasty dinner that's full of flavor and short on dishes, this sheet pan sausage with peppers and onions is perfect tossed with pasta or served over rice.

It seems we have been on a roll of quick and easy weeknight meals with Italian inspired flavors around here lately.  I do tend to go through phases of cooking where certain flavors just sound really good, do you have food phases too? Quick and easy is pretty much a constant out of necessity until either the time fairy arrives or a winning lottery ticket blows in the back door. 😉

I really try to vary what we eat for our weekly family dinner.  With the weather warming up a bit I thought I would make one last slow cooker full of comfort food before we get the grill out.  Nothing says comfort food like gravy and biscuits.

Cookies and Cream Blondies

A nice big batch of brown sugary cookies and cream blondies is the perfect way to feed a crowd.  Bring them to your next potluck, BBQ or party and watch them disappear.

I was in a baking mood recently and hadn't brought treats to work in a while.  So I figured I could scratch my baking itch and fill up the coworkers making everyone a winner! Of course something easy to grab and eat without utensils is ideal for the work goodie table.  A bigger batch is in order too.

Peanut Butter Sheet Cake

This easy and peanut buttery cake is perfect for feeding a crowd.  It is made much like a Texas sheet cake and would be good with that chocolate icing, but we love it with white chocolate buttercream for an extra special treat!

This fun sheet cake is full of peanut butter flavor.  It is made in the Texas sheet cake style where you boil the butter and water on the stove, so there is no need for creaming or fussing to get it together.  Plus it is a great size for sharing, but don't worry, it will disappear quickly.  I made it as one of the treats at Little Dude's second birthday and thought it was time to remake the recipe, shoot some quick pictures and update the post a bit.

One Pan BBQ Pulled Pork and Rice Skillet Supper

One pan BBQ pulled pork and rice skillet dinner is full of flavor and texture.  It will have everyone coming back for a little more and leave you with very few dishes too!

Have you figured out by now we are pork people?  I know I have gone over my love of pulled pork many times.  I love how easy and versatile it is.  What I love even more is playing with the leftovers.  I have turned them in enchiladas, Brunswick stew, even baked chimichangas.  All of which are delicious.  But sometimes you just don't want the hassle of a bunch of dishes, yet you are just not in the mood for another pulled pork sandwich.  What's a person to do?

Deviled Egg Dip

Whether you are just a fan of the flavor of deviled eggs but don't like the work of making them or you have extra hard boiled eggs you need used up, this dip is the perfect answer! It is easy and tasty!

It is hard boiled egg season.  If your family is anything like mine, there will be plenty.  Little Dude loves to dye them, but to be honest he's not the only one.  I love it too and even though they might not admit it I even have a few brothers who still like to dye the eggs too.

Homemade Turkey Tamale Casserole

This fun turkey tamale casserole has a soft made from scratch corn base and is so full of flavor.  Plus it is so fun to dress up with your favorite toppings!

It's one of life's greatest conundrums, what do you do when you are craving turkey tamale pie but you don't have all of the ingredients in the house?  Compound that with the fact that you are wearing clothes that you wouldn't be caught dead in at the store, but they are soooooooooo comfy and you just can't imagine changing. And getting in the car. And going to the store. And getting all the ingredients. And coming home. Ugh! It's all too much.

Di's Banana Cake

This banana cake is so easy to make and moist as can be! The directions will surprise you, you'll just have to make it to believe it!

My coworker Diane and I hardly ever get to see each other.  But we talk a lot.  We both spend a lot of time on the road and like to bounce ideas off of each other as we go.  She is a wealth of information, so she is my first call when I come across something I am unsure of.  We go over how our days have been going, what strange things have popped up and then the most important part... food!

Tropical Pineapple Coconut Baked Oatmeal

This bright and flavorful baked oatmeal is like taking a bite out of the tropics! Tropical pineapple coconut baked oatmeal is the perfect breakfast or brunch treat!

Can you tell I am over winter?  I am done with the cold, done with the snow and done with all of the cold rain that has been turning everything into a giant sloshy mud pit.  I want warmth and palm trees.  That's not too much for a Midwestern girl to ask for in early March, is it?

Shortcut Chicken Stew

This chicken stew is made quickly with rotisserie or leftover chicken, but that does not make it short on flavor. This shortcut chicken stew is hearty, flavorful and oh so good!

In our neck of the woods the weather this time of year can give you whiplash. One day it's sunny and springy, the next day you're layered up and trying to prevent frostbite.  We went on a nice long walk on Sunday only to not be able to feel our fingers on Monday.

So we still are searching for warm and comforting meals.  When winter starts it's fun to break out old favorites like baked ziti, grandma's chicken broccoli casserole and cheese soup.  Then it's time to try new things. As winter drags on, we like to get creative with meals like buffalo chicken lasagna and brown sugar Dijon pork.

When the warmer days start getting sprinkled in, it's nice to lighten things up a bit. But we don't want to give up on that warm comforting feeling when those cold days smack us in the face.  So we need something in between.

These Celtic Knot Rolls are perfect with stew or soup. They are tasty and fun to make and perfect for St. Patrick's Day or any day!

Polish Lemon Babka

If bread and cake got together, fell in love and had a baby... this would be it!  It is a yeast bread that is just sweet enough and almost has the texture of a traditional cake.  It is amazing that this even works the way it does.

This cake is a must make.  It is an Easter tradition for many Polish families.  It is a no knead enriched yeast bread that soaks up a river of syrupy lemon goodness.  The final result is soft and flavorful, perfect with a cup of coffee at Easter brunch.  So go ahead and pour yourself a mug of steaming coffee and grab a slice, let's sit down and enjoy it together.

A healthy and hearty breakfast that tastes like chocolate?  I am there every time!  This oatmeal eats like a treat. It's almost like chocolate tapioca.  But it's even better because there's no refined sugar and so much oatmeal goodness.
