Polish Lemon Babka

If bread and cake got together, fell in love and had a baby... this would be it!  It is a yeast bread that is just sweet enough and almost has the texture of a traditional cake.  It is amazing that this even works the way it does.

This cake is a must make.  It is an Easter tradition for many Polish families.  It is a no knead enriched yeast bread that soaks up a river of syrupy lemon goodness.  The final result is soft and flavorful, perfect with a cup of coffee at Easter brunch.  So go ahead and pour yourself a mug of steaming coffee and grab a slice, let's sit down and enjoy it together.

Healthy Chocolate Steel Cut Oatmeal

This chocolate steel cut oatmeal is healthy, creamy and delicious.  There is not refined sugar and so much goodness. It is sure to start your day with a smile!

A healthy and hearty breakfast that tastes like chocolate?  I am there every time!  This oatmeal eats like a treat. It's almost like chocolate tapioca.  But it's even better because there's no refined sugar and so much oatmeal goodness.

No Boil Baked Macaroni and Cheese

This macaroni and cheese is completely cooked in the oven. There is no boiling of the noodles first! No boil baked macaroni and cheese for the win!

Have you ever had one of those days where you can't handle one more thing? You know the kind where things feel overwhelming or the schedule is so full that you can't fathom adding one more thing to the day.

I love to cook. Everything from simple to more intense labor (and dirty dish!) filled recipes.  But sometimes even I can't take one extra step in the kitchen.

Sourdough Crescent Rolls

Sourdough crescent rolls are soft, ever so slightly sweet with a nicely rounded sourdough flavor.  They are the perfect accompaniment to your next dinner!

pile of sourdough crescents ready to eat

For those of you who have not met Bertha yet, she is my sourdough starter.  I got her going after seeing something on T.V. that had me excited about all things culinary.  I immediately got her going and five days later she was perking away.

Great-Grandma's Scalloped Corn

This vintage recipe is a hearty filling side dish that was a staple at many family dinners of my childhood and those of the generations before me.  Great-grandma's scalloped corn is a perfect side to so many dinner entrees!

This recipe is definitely a retro recipe that deserves a relook.  I had great-grandmas on both sides of my family that were known for making this recipe.  One from Indiana and one from Wisconsin, so I am guessing it was a popular recipe with a lot of families in that generation.

Taste of the Tropics Pie {with Coconut and Pineapple!}

Bright, sweet and full of flavor and texture, this pie is the perfect combination of coconut and pineapple for a taste of the tropics in pie form!

I have been testing recipes and narrowing down the field to get ready for the upcoming pi{e} day event.  I still haven't perfected the art of a pretty pie, but tasty pies I can do all day long! I have been looking for a little something different and this one was a strong contender!

Slow Cooker Chicken Parmesan Sandwiches

These chicken Parmesan sandwiches are a perfect busy night dinner. The chicken cooks in the slow cooker all day so all you have to do is shred and assemble when you get home!

Happy Valentine's Day!   I probably should be sharing something decadent and chocolatey with you. Or maybe something meatless to kick off Lent.  But I remade these chicken parmesan sandwiches recently and I couldn't hold out on you any longer!

I Choo-Choose You Train Valentines

These cute trains are happy to tell your Valentines that you Choo-choose them! They are fun to make and sure to chug right into your friends' hearts!

You may have noticed by now that Little Dude and I like to do it up on a holiday.  Valentines Day is no exception.   While there are plenty of fun treats and cards in the store, we like to do something a bit more homemade for his friends.

Creamy BBQ Pulled Pork Spaghetti

This Creamy Pulled Pork Spaghetti is a great way to rework your leftover pulled pork! It is a hearty one pan dinner that is sure to be a hit with your family.

Here I go again with another recipe for using up left over pulled pork. It is just handy to have a variety of things to do with what is left. I mean if you are smoking  some pork butt you might as well do two right.

Or in my brother's eyes, if you are doing two you might as well do four. He'll bring one to share with the guys at work and have a family dinner.  He keeps some and the rest seems to find it's way to my fridge. He's never heard me complain about it.  Not even once!

Super soft sugar cookie bars topped with super chocolaty sweetened condensed milk buttercream are a fun, easy and popular treat!

Sugar cookies are one of my favorite treats to make.  My go-to sugar cookies have made an appearance at so many parties. It is my favorite cut-out recipe and makes cute and tasty cookies.

Red velvet is everywhere... and Valentine's day is coming up, so that only accelerates the red velvet madness.  Add to that the cheese ball resurgence and it's a perfect storm.

Chicken Parmesan Meatloaf

What happens when you combine two classic dinner entrees into something new and different? Deliciousness, that's what!  This is part meatloaf, part chicken Parmesan and all delicious!

Meatloaf is one of those family dinner classics.  It reminds me of diner plates, mashed potatoes and dinner around the table.  It is filling, meaty and reminiscent of childhood.

BBQ Pulled Pork Enchiladas with Sour Cream Cheese Sauce

The perfect use for leftover pulled pork! These pulled pork enchiladas are part BBQ and part enchilada. They are creamy, cheesy and oh so good!

The perfect use for leftover pulled pork! These pulled pork enchiladas are part BBQ and part enchilada. They are creamy, cheesy and oh so good!

We LOVE pulled pork around here.  I usually make it by braising it inside, but my dad and brother both have smokers and love to smoke whole pork butts.   Either way it is delicious and when you are cooking a whole pork butt at a time there is plenty of leftovers.  I love using leftovers.
