Grandma's Napa Salad

A fresh and crunch napa salad that is topped with golden and buttery toppings and a simple homemade dressing. Grandma knows her stuff!

I can still remember the first time I had this salad.  We went over to my grandma's house for a holiday dinner.  She was just pulling the toasted ramen out of the oven and it smelled wonderful.  I always loved holidays and grandma and grandpa's, and I still do. So I am sure that adds to the warm and fuzzy feelings I get every time I make this salad.

Our Favorite Summer Dinner Ideas

As the heat turns up, our taste preferences change to fresher, lighter and quicker dinners.  Here are some of our favorite summer dinner ideas!

Spring was a little late to arrive this year. I'm not sure if the warmer weather  got held up in the TSA line or maybe it was just enjoying its stay in the southern hemisphere? No matter where it was, it came in roaring.  It didn't seem like we had much of a transition. There were layers and goosebumps one day, and heat and humidity the next.

Strawberries and Cream Popcorn

This quick and easy popcorn recipe is a fun munchy for parties. Strawberries and cream popcorn is especially fun in spring, but is great year round.

Strawberries and cream popcorn was shared for the first time way back in the early days of Cooking With Carlee.  When we were deciding what kind of popcorn to make for his hop on popcorn course of his Dr. Seuss birthday party, once I get this in my head I just knew I had to make it again.

Peach Rhubarb Pie

Peach rhubarb pie combines the tart taste of spring with summer's sweet fruit. Peach and rhubarb come together under a golden streusel in this perfect fruity pie.

The story of this pie actually begins a year ago.  We were getting ready for our big friends and family pie-off.  It wasn't our first pie tasting, we had actually had a mini pecan pie off a couple of years prior, but it was definitely going to be our biggest.  I was having the hardest time deciding what to make. (Spoiler alert: I always have the hardest time deciding what to make!)

Do you love a nice slice of carrot cake piled high with cream cheese frosting? Me too! Make that maple cream cheese frosting and we are really in business! But for some reason having cake for breakfast is frowned upon in this establishment! (Hopefully that reference isn't lost on you all!)

Vintage Gold Cake

A delicious cake that is made not with butter, but egg yolks! It is a light and simple to make cake and a great way to use yolks left from meringues or angel food cakes.

Have you ever needed to use a ton egg whites for a nice angel food cake or pavlova recipe and wondered what the heck you were going to do with all of those yolks? I mean there is only so much lemon curd one person can make and eat. It is delicious, but...
