The Top Recipes of 2018

Take a look at reader favorite recipes from 2018. Are any of your favorites on the list? Get inspired and tell me the recipes you'd love to see next year!

As we wrap up the year, I think it is always fun to look back and see how delicious things were.  Here is a look at some reader favorite recipes from 2018.  Some are new recipes and some are recipes that are favorites year after year.

Do you have any fun plans for New Years Eve? Do you eat the traditional green and black eyed peas? I think we must live a little too far north, because that is not really a thing in our neck of the woods.

Fun new favorite recipes:

My family usually likes to either do appetizers or seafood for New Years Eve.  Luckily I love both of those menus and frequently we do both! But instead of worrying about tonight's food, lets take a look back at how 2018 tasted!

This fun and fluffy frosting was based off a reader's suggestion.  Whipped Sweetened Condensed Milk Frosting quickly became a hit with readers and still gets lots of visits.

Have you tried it yet? It is just lightly sweet and super fluffy. Almost like a cloud!

This Orange Creamsicle Jello Salad screams summer to me, but it would be delicious any time. Little Dude developed a big love for mandarin oranges this year so I had to fight him for some cans to use for this fun treat.

Recipes that have a vintage flare like this are always fun to make. Plus the cool combination of orange and creamy vanilla is aways a hit. But it was fun to see this one go wild! You may also like the orange creamsicle pretzel salad, it is another perfect treat!

Then there's the Perfect Buttercream! It shouldn't be a surprise there are a few frosting recipes on the list! This one I developed for my brother's wedding. It is great for piping on decorations, holds up well to the heat and isn't so overly sweet.

Plus I have some shirts for frosting lovers. The purple one above is my weekend uniform these days!  I have a few other fun designs here too!

Chocolate Cherry Fudge Bundt Cake was technically posted last year, but only a few days before the year changed. So it counts as a new recipe this year, right? It has been a favorite in our family for years, so I'm not surprised it is a hit with you all too!

French Maple Buttercream isn't exactly new either, but it took off this year. It is rich, smooth, creamy and luscious. It is perfect on the maple pecan layer cake.

Chicken Parmesan Meatloaf is what you get when you combine two dinnertime favorites. It is stuffed with gooey cheese and full of flavor. You will want to serve it every weekend for the rest of winter and don't be surprised if it gets requested all year long!

Perennial favorite recipes:

Sweetened Condensed Milk Buttercream Frosting is one of the all time most popular recipes on the blog. It is super simple, but the addition of sweetened condensed milk really adds that little something extra. It has spurred a whole series of sweetened condensed milk frosting recipes on the blog. It is a fun challenge to keep coming up with new ways to make frosting!

The recipe for Farmer's Daughter Cake was one of the first posts to really take off here on the blog. I think the chocolate frosting is what draws people in.  This year I decided to update the pictures and add a video.  The fun thing about this cake is that it uses cream instead of butter or oil. Plus it makes a 9" square cake, so it isn't too much for a small party.

Grandma's Chicken Broccoli Casserole is another one that has been a hit with our family since the first time we tried it. I updated the pictures last year after Thanksgiving using some leftover turkey and it took off.  It is a great way to use leftover turkey or chicken or is great with a couple of diced chicken breasts.

Melting Moments are a fun cookie that decided to take off this year.  I shared them for the first time a couple of years ago before Christmas, but this year the post got a life of its own. You could easily change out the sprinkles and make them for birthdays, Easter or any party.

Creamy Caramel Sweetened Condensed Milk Frosting is the third sweetened condensed milk frosting on the list. I told you they're good! There is no shortage of ways to mix it up.  This recipe caramelizes the sweetened condensed milk before turning it into a fabulously creamy caramel frosting.

Any recipe you can make is one pan is going to be a hit with me. One Pan BBQ Pulled Pork and Rice also uses one of my favorite ingredients, leftover pulled pork. It is easy and flavorful and I am not surprised it is popular with readers too!

I have a few ideas I can't wait to try in 2019, but I'd love to hear what kind of recipes you'd like to see as well. I am always open to suggestions. Here is to a delicious new year!
