Take a bowl of fresh snow and turn it into creamy delicious ice cream in just a couple of minutes. Sweetened condensed milk makes this recipe super creamy and good without any measuring or work! It reminds me of eating homemade vanilla ice cream straight from the churner.

A huge snow storm just rolled into town. When I came home from work yesterday, it was just starting to come down in dainty white flakes.

By the time I went to bed, the sound of the snowplow scraping the road was a welcomed sound.  When we woke up there was a blanket of snow several inches thick on everything.

The boys went out to shovel, build snow forts and play in the snow. After a couple of hours they were frozen to the core and still fallen snow was applying another bit of white everywhere they had worked so hard to clear.

So once they got warmed up from their excursion, we thought it would be fun to make some snow ice cream.  The lot of fresh, undisturbed snow was too good to pass up.

There are a few ways to do it, most involve milk and sugar.  I was one of the few people in town that didn’t storm to the grocery store for the compulsory milk and bread load up.

The weekend is my grocery shopping time, so the milk is starting to get low.  I suppose that makes it all the sillier that I didn’t go grab a gallon before the snow dropped!

Snow and condensed milk stirred together in large glass bowl.

But that really just forced a little bit of improvisation on the ice cream.  There is always a can of sweetened condensed milk in the pantry, so I grabbed one of those instead.

Just mix it in to about 8 cups of snow and add a little vanilla and you are ready to go! If it is a really light and fluffy snow, you may need 9 cups or so. You can play with it a bit as you stir it in.

The final product tastes a lot like homemade vanilla ice cream fresh out of the churner. You know the kind, it isn’t all the way set, but just set enough to scoop and serve.

It is almost like soft serve and ready in no time! It is great on its own and fun with sprinkles or chocolate syrup.

Of course you can freeze it for more solid scoops if you’d like. It is great that way too, I just really like something about the softer version.

What are you waiting for?  Go gather a little snow and make some asap!

No no no! Snow is untreated water. Do not use snow. Put ice into your food processor or blender and use that.

I have to try this. If the air doesn't hurt my face tomorrow, I will get the snow to do this. Husband is begging for something sweet, so this will make him happy too!
