Turn a fresh snow fall into delicious ice cream with just three ingredients. This fun snow ice cream recipe is going to make you look forward to snow days!

Take a bowl of fresh snow and turn it into creamy delicious ice cream in just a couple of minutes. Sweetened condensed milk makes this recipe super creamy and tasty without any measuring or work!
It reminds me of eating homemade vanilla ice cream straight from the churner.
A huge snow storm just rolled into town. When I came home from work yesterday, it was just starting to come down in dainty white flakes.
By the time I went to bed, the sound of the snowplow scraping the road was a welcomed sound. When we woke up there was a blanket of snow several inches thick on everything.
The boys went out to shovel, build snow fort, and play in the snow. After a couple of hours they were frozen to the core and still falling snow was applying another bit of white everywhere they had worked so hard to clear.

So once they got warmed up from their excursion, we thought it would be fun to make some snow ice cream. The lot of fresh, undisturbed snow was too good to pass up.
There are a few ways to do it, most involve milk and sugar. I was one of the few people in town that didn’t storm to the grocery store for the compulsory milk and bread load up.
The weekend is my grocery shopping time, so the milk is starting to get low. I suppose that makes it all the sillier that I didn’t go grab a gallon before the snow dropped!
But that really just forced a little bit of improvisation on the ice cream. There is always a can of sweetened condensed milk in the pantry, so I grabbed one of those instead.

Just mix it in to about 8 cups of snow and add a little vanilla and you are ready to go! If it is a really light and fluffy snow, you may need 9 cups or so. You can play with it a bit as you stir it in.
The final product tastes a lot like homemade vanilla ice cream fresh out of the churner. You know the kind, it isn’t all the way set, but just set enough to scoop and serve.

It is almost like soft serve and ready in no time! It is great on its own and fun with sprinkles or chocolate syrup.
Of course you can freeze it for more solid scoops if you’d like. It is great that way too, I just really like something about the softer version.
What are you waiting for? Go gather a little snow and make some asap!

I’d love to make this one recipe and add in chopped fresh bing cherries. Thanks Carlee.
What a fun idea!
I just made it and it was delicious!! My sister, mom, and I loved it. It was better than regular ice cream!!
How fun!
I’m 71 years young . I’ve eaten snow cream on & off since I was a young’un & I’m not dead yet . Always get the top most snow , no ice and then make per recipe . If you do not have sweetened condensed milk you can use evaporated milk and sweeten with granulated sugar to taste . That is what my momma used in the early ’60’s when we were growing up on our family farm cause we couldn’t cargo d the other milk !
If we get to the point where fresh snow is that bad, we have bigger problems. 😉 I love the evaporated milk and sugar tip too.
No no no! Snow is untreated water. Do not use snow.
Put ice into your food processor or blender and use that.
@Karen Brower, we breathe the same air that it falls through. Are you going to stop that too??? Just sayin.
@Karen Brower, snow is not the same as untreated water. It is from the atmosphere that we breathe, not from the ground. So, it is not dirty ground water. But, always find snow that is clean and sitting fresh on top of something clean. And scrape off the top of the pile and not the part that is touching the surface.
I have to try this. If the air doesn't hurt my face tomorrow, I will get the snow to do this. Husband is begging for something sweet, so this will make him happy too!
How fun is this! I hope that we get more snow so I can make this with the grand kids! You always have the funnest ideas! Thank you!
What a fun treat! I bet you all loved it.
