Special meals call for something special in the bread basket, but there are only so many hours in the day. This bread wreath is loaded with tasty bacon and cheddar and uses a shortcut that makes it super easy. Don't worry, the fact that it came together so quickly can be our little secret!

Big holiday meals often include some sort of bread or roll.  With so many other items to make, it can be hard to find the time to make something that lives up to the grandeur of the rest of the meal.

That doesn't have to be the case though. You can make something that tastes delicious and looks fabulous without a ton of effort.

Starting with a loaf of frozen bread dough, you can have this flavorful wreath on the table with very little hands on time. The thawed dough is quickly rolled into a rectangle and then the magic happens.

Cabot's bacon cheddar cheese sprinkled over rolled out bread dough

Sprinkle the dough with loads of delicious Cabot cheese. I just noticed the grated cheese in my grocery store recently and my life is changed!

I knew it would be good because every Cabot cheese I've ever tried has been. But it was even better than I expected.

It feels like you would expect freshly grated hard cheese to feel. No wimpy cheese here. Of course the taste is amazing too.

I knew I would be adding some crumbled bacon, so I used the bacon cheddar to really make sure the bacon flavor came through. I had served the block version on one of my holiday cheese boards and the shredded version lived up to my expectations as well!

Once the dough is covered with deliciousness, roll it up as you would cinnamon rolls. Then take a sharp knife and slice it in half down the length of the dough.

Now you are ready to form the wreath. Pinch together the two halves at one of the ends of the dough.

Then gently lift one side and place it over the other side. Continue crossing the dough over itself until the whole dough is "braided."  It doesn't have to be perfect, just have fun with it!

Bring the two ends together into a circle shape and pinch them together. Place the wreath on a baking sheet and tuck any cheese or bacon that fell out back into the crevices.

After the dough has a chance to rise it is just a short trip to the oven away from ready to eat! It smells fabulous while it is baking and will have your mouth watering before you dig in.

I lightly toasted a few slices in a skillet while making some fried eggs. It was perfect dipped in the runny yolks.

This bread would also instantly elevate a a bowl of soup or would be great dunked in pasta sauce. The possibilities are really endless!
