Tasty Recipes for Your Enameled Dutch Oven

Do you have a pretty new dutch oven just itching to be used, but no idea what to do with it? Don't worry, here are some great ideas to get you started on your dutch oven loving journey!



      Dutch ovens are super versatile.  You can bake, fry, braise, brown, boil and more in them.  That makes them super wonderful, but it can also be overwhelming to know where to start.  Here are a variety of great recipes that are perfect ways to get using your enameled cast iron beauty.  Try a few and you'll be ready to use your dutch oven every night!


      Last week I told you a little bit about my love for enameled dutch ovens.  They are so pretty and hard working, it is hard not to love them.




        Maybe you got one as a gift, or you've been pining after one in the store.  But what will you use it for?

       All the delicious things, that is what! I thought I would get some recipes together to give you some ideas to use that pretty pot more.



Creamy one pot chicken and noodles dinner is almost like eating a perfect chicken pot pie, but without the fuss. It is quick, easy and there is only one pot to clean when you are done. Feed your hungry family a filling and delicious dinner without any hassle. It is sure to fill them up and make them smile.



Turn a few simple ingredients into a whole meal in 30 minutes.  You dutch oven will be so glad to help you along the way. One pot creamy chicken orzo from New South Charm is a perfect quick dinner.



Get the flavors of lasagna without the work of layering it by making one pot lasagna in a small dutch oven.  It is a quick and easy weeknight meal with big lasagna flavor.


Make beef stew in the oven with this recipe from Cook Eat Go! It's a great way to get a cozy meal on the table in a really low and slow kind of way. The dutch oven and your oven work together to get a tender finish.

If creamy white chicken chili is more your thing, it is perfect to make in a dutch oven as well.  This recipe is one of our favorites and just thinking about it makes me want to make a batch! 



Kelly's cheese soup is a copycat recipe my family has enjoyed for years. It is full of vegetables, pasta and creamy cheesy goodness. It's a regional favorite and soon to be a favorite for you as well! The thick bottom of a dutch oven helps you keep the soup warm without scorching the cheese. 



Comfort in a bowl, this creamy chicken pot pie soup has all of that delicious pot pie flavor in soup form. It is easy, delicious and will warm you to your core!



A dutch oven is the perfect vessel for making a juicy and delicious roast chicken. It only takes a few minutes to prep and the results are very much worth the wait!



This dutch oven braised balsamic and rosemary pork is so full of flavor. It takes a while to make, but very little active time and the results are so worth it. It makes a perfect comfort food meal, but the flavors are sophisticated enough to make it company worthy as well. Serve it over mashed potatoes, egg noodles or rice for a delicious dinner.


A simple but delicious pork loin cooked with apples, fennel and fall vegetables. You are going to love the slightly sweet and savory combination that puts dinner on the table in one dutch oven.



If you are looking for an affordable way to feed the whole family, pasta e fagioli from The Baking Fairy is a great way to do it. It is filling, budget friendly and a great way to get an Italian meal on the table.



Make creamy polenta in the oven like Tikkido does.  I am all in for the roasted mushrooms on top, but the possibilities are endless. Think shrimp, ragu, meatballs and marinara or roasted veggies. YUM!

Loaded with apple flavor and that hearty steel cut oatmeal chew, this apple pie steel cut oatmeal is sure to be a favorite fall breakfast. Grab a spoon and dig in!
This recipe for garlic herb no-knead bread is an older one on my site.  It is simple to do, just takes a little time.  Baking it in the dutch oven give it that soft interior with the crackly crust. Mmm-mm good!
