If you are looking for a fun Thanksgiving sweet treat that is a little bit different than the traditional pumpkin or pecan pie, look no further. These fun chocolate dipped rice crispy treats are decorated up like turkeys. They don’t take any oven space and they will be popular with kids and adults alike.

These fun treats are special at every turn.  First, they are no ordinary rice crispy treats.

Oh no, my friends, these babies start with delicious bars that are loaded to the gills with chocolate and peanut butter.  Get the recipe for these stupendous chocolate peanut butter krispie bars and you are already off on the right foot.

There is enough marshmallow to give you that chew and enough cereal to give you the crunch, but the chocolate and peanut butter really bring the goodness. They taste absolutely fabulous.

Turning Rice Krispie Treats into Turkeys Perfect for Thanksgiving

As if that wasn’t enough, the resulting pieces of crispy treat are dunked into melted milk chocolate. You could go full immersion, but I opted to just dip the top.

I used a high quality great tasting compound chocolate.  That way I didn’t have to worry so much about hitting the exact right temperatures.

If you are using bar chocolate, you’ll want to temper it before you coat your bars to get a glossy finish.  No matter which method you use to coat them, they are bound to be delicious.

Once you take each dipped cereal bar out of the chocolate, you’ll want to decorate it. I used colorful chocolate coated sunflower seeds for the tail feathers.

Then a few small candy eyeballs for the eyes. A yellow and red candy coated sunflower seeds finished his face as his beak and gobbler.

As you can see, these fun treats come together really quick and easily. They can be made several days in advance and stored at room temperature as well.

More Cute Themed Treat Ideas

If you are in the cookie mood, you could do a sugar cookie dressed up with candy corn as a Turkey. Or turn mini donuts into turkeys with m&ms for another cute and easy treat!

Now that I’ve decorated mummy rice crispy treats and monster cereal bars for Halloween and these for Thanksgiving, I feel like I need to do a Christmas version as well. Does anyone have any fun ideas for those?

How far in advance can I make dipped rice krispie treats?

If kept in an airtight container at room temperature, you can store these rice krispie treats for up to 5 days. However, like most things they are better within a day or two of being made.
