These fun stuffed waffles only take 3 or 4 ingredients and a few minutes to make. They are filled with your favorite pizza toppings like melted cheese and pepperoni and are just begging to be dipped in marinara.  They can be enjoyed as a fun lunch, super cool snack or quick and easy dinner option.

Plus they are simple enough to make the kids can help assemble everything. Keep the ingredients on hand, so you’re always ready.

Having kids help in the kitchen is such a wonderful way to help them grow.  If you pick simple recipes to make together it can be both a learning experience and fabulous quality time.

This recipe is super simple to put together, so the added mess from little hands is minimal.  Plus when kids get to help prepare their meal they are more likely to eat it without complaint.

Of course getting them to eat pizza without complaint usually isn’t much of a challenge, but you have to start somewhere!  That pride of helping to create something delicious can spill onto the next recipe and the one after that as well.

circles of dough patted flat, one pile with cheese and pepperoni.

All they while they are gaining life skills and confidence.  Those are qualities that are going to serve them well in so many facets of their growth.

Even if you’d prefer to keep the kiddos out of the kitchen, you should still keep the ingredients for these waffle on hand.  They would make a perfect sleepover snack, exciting weekend lunch or perfect quick grab and run meal on a busy evening.

We use the canned biscuit dough for the crust because it is beyond easy and fast.  You could very easily use bits of pizza dough or bread dough for the crust and that would be delicious as well, but it doesn’t get easier that pop the can and go.

Use your fingers to press them out into a large thin circle.  You could also use a rolling pin, whatever is more comfortable for you.

They don’t have to be perfectly round or a specific size, that is part of the beauty of it.  Just be sure to repair any holes by pushing the dough back together.

Sprinkle them with some shredded mozzarella and add some pepperoni.  Add full slices if you’d like, but chopped pepperoni makes tearing the waffles apart on the seams easier.

We are garlic salt fiends, so we like to sprinkle just a tiny bit over the center and then place another flattened round of biscuit dough over the top.  I generally try to seal the edges a bit, but found that it doesn’t really have to be perfect.

The waffle iron is going to give it a nice big squeeze anyway, so it’s going to be what it is! We have a few different waffle makers, but I like using the Hamilton Beach belgian waffle maker for this recipe.

The actual waffle plates pop out so they are easy to clean. That way you can ensure you are getting all the garlic salt out without worrying about getting anything electronic wet.

The last thing you want is pepperoni and garlic on your blueberry waffles!  Though really any waffle maker will do just fine, so don’t be afraid to use what you have.

You can definitely experiment with the fillings and try your favorite pizza toppings.  You’ll just have to remember that whatever you include is cut small enough to allow it to be closed in the waffle maker.

I would be careful about adding anything with too much moisture, but veggies could easily be sauteed ahead of time.  That would make them softer for easier waffling and cook some of the excess water out.

If you want to see how easy these are to make, Little Dude and I made a little YouTube video for them.  Be sure to check it out!

We are hoping to start a series of videos of great ways for kids to help in the kitchen.  We are excited to do it together and hopefully you enjoy it.

For another fun and easy pizza inspired recipe, we also recommend bubble up pizza. It’s a lot of the same ingredients but in a casserole form.

Or try making a no boil pasta recipe with your favorite pizza toppings. It’s hard to go wrong with pepperoni pizza inspired recipes!

Do you have any fun and different things you make in a waffle iron? The possibilities are endless!
